Programs:
This week we had the great pleasure to welcome Sam Stark, President & CEO of the Central Florida Sports Commission. Did you know Orlando is #27 in the US for sports destinations? Sam shared some fun facts as well as great overall information, including membership information for the new Sports Club, a club that allows you to attend your favorite sporting events and pre-game functions while enjoying exclusive access to ticket pre-sales to numerous sporting venues, games and mixers. To learn more about the Central Florida Sports Commission and the Sports Club visit www.centralfloridasports.org. To round out the SPORTS month, next week's speaker will be George O'Leary, UCF's head football coach. He is sure to have some great stories and insight. Don't miss it! District Assembly: Another big thanks to all who attended the District Assembly this past Saturday. It was a great meeting that taught us alot about Rotary as a global organization, as well as specific job responsibilities of committee heads and club leadership. Plus, there were several hundred Rotarians there so we were able to meet tons of new friends. The club leadership will be sharing information from this event in the future so that we can all be well informed Rotarians. Charter Banquet: We are officially a Rotary International chartered club and tomorrow night is the celebration to share the good news with all! Our Charter Banquet is gearing up to be one great event. With our co-charter club, Rotary Club of Lake Nona and various clubs throughout the district, we'll be celebrating with around 100 people - How exciting! Cocktail hour (cash bar) begins at 6 pm and dinner will be served at 7 pm. Dress is business attire. Parking in the lot adjacent to The University Club (black wrought iron fencing) is complimentary. Fundraisers: Vice President Elizabeth McCarthy provided an overview of our first major fundraiser happening Saturday, July 3rd. The yet to be named event will center around good old fashion family fun, celebrating the July 4th holiday. There will be food, beer and...FIREWORKS! Though there are several leading the charge for this event, we'll need most all of our club members help to make this event spectacular. We'll need event sponsors, volunteers and more. Look for more information from Elizabeth and the Fundraising team to see how you can help. New Members: Are you interested in bringing a guest to a Rotary meeting? Maybe there is a speaker that would be perfect for someone you'd like to invite to potentially join our club? You can! We as a club are happy to sponsor any guests complimentary for one meeting. They are welcome to come and mingle with the group and see what it is to be a Rotarian. If they have detailed questions that you just don't know how to answer, please feel free to speak with Membership Chair, Stefan Smith or any of the board members and we'll gladly answer all their questions. If a guest comes back a second week and is not quite sure they want to join yet, the cost is $10 per person.
